It is easy to find adequate food for our chameleon reptiles in specialty stores because we buy assorted insects for them. We will not pass insects caught in nature since we can pollute our pet insecticide plus environmental concerns .
An economical way to get live food is raising him ourselves, but it is an activity that requires time, physical space and investment in containers and food for the insect. The good of raising ourselves is that we know how healthy that food is for the chameleon.
We will give the chameleon a varied and complete diet. Something cheap that can complement the main live feed are flies . An easy way to get them is to buy a package of larvae on a fishing bait shop , keep in a warm place to spend a chrysalis in about 14 days we fly . Then store them in plastic containers for about three days and fed with molasses , milk powder , cereals for kids and vitamin water drinking water. Finally , we will give a supplement of vitamins and minerals and can give as food to the chameleon.
The chameleon also likes green cockroach and generally feed on live insects as may be crickets, grasshoppers , cockroaches , moths, meal worms , flies, larvae of blowfly , slugs , isopods , larvae of darkling beetles and spiders .
Experts estimate , the best time to feed the chameleon of land is in the morning and the true chameleon afternoon. Large species must get used to the tweezers with which we give them food or the feeder where they hunt insects , but not all will end up getting used . With those who are more shy let live insects inside the terrarium so they can hunt them at your own pace .
Water needs are covered Chameleon with spray. However, the biggest give them water with a pipette twice a week and those who do not drink voluntarily sprinkle them directly in the mouth .
In addition to the usual diet , keep in mind that all animals that serve as food for the chameleon should be dusted with a mixture of calcium and vitamins. Furthermore, once a week until the animal is provided five drops of a liquid multivitamin compound directly into the mouth . Also, add more liquid multivitamin , a teaspoon of calcium gluconate per 5 liters of water, and less of a drop of iodine solution twice a week to water intake.
